Getting to Mount Etna in Sicily

Buses run from Piazza Papa Giovanni XXIII to Rifugio Sapienza every day. The first bus leaves Piazza Papa Giovanni XXII at 8:15 AM and the last bus from Rifugio Sapienza is at 4:30 PM. 

By train

Trains run from Borgo Station in Catania to Riposto. The train journey creates a loop around the Mount Etna volcano and provides stunning views of the surrounding areas. 

By car

The southern and eastern slopes are commonly used to access the Mount Etna volcano. If you are traveling by car, take the SS121 or SS284 roads, which provide access to these slopes.

Once you park your car, you will have to take a cable car or 4X4 vehicle to reach the summit of Mount Etna.
